there is no face
if we survive, who do we go after for the damage?
if we survive, who do we go after for the damage? there is no face.
the psychological damage, the financial damage, the physical damage, the damage to the earth and the lives lost. who is accountable? there is no face.
there is no face. or there are too many, which is the same.
it is the product of hundreds, thousands of years of manifestation of the human mind. a spiral of complexity. each minute exponentially more complex than the previous.
do you go after the administration? sure. the tech psychopaths? sure. the billionaires behind essentially modern slavery destroying the earth for personal gain? sure. the war pigs? sure. the empowered religious extremists? sure. the people that could have done something but didn’t? sure.
but what about the first person that tried to sell the idea of god? whoever invented currency? the creator of capitalism? what about all of the personal events and traumas that lead certain people to attach to toxic ideas, ideals and values? what about the lack of intelligence that leads to people going against their best interests? or even worse the people that actively try and cultivate this in the masses?
there is no face. this is a fucking mess and we’re all apart of it. if we didn’t build it, we contribute directly with our financial support, energy and attention or indirectly through indifference. even if we didn’t create it, we didn’t stop it.
which is fair. it is inherently human to want to cultivate the best scenario for you and your loved ones. the idea of fixing anything fundamental is a task so daunting it will make you insane. at times, as a decent person, the only option is to lean into whatever joy and comfort you can find.
plus, there is no face.
as individualistic as we’ve all become, by design, in our current system we have also caught glimpses of unifying moments. moments that remind us, “oh shit we really are all connected.” and today those moments are getting even more scary and intense.
when and if it all goes down, there will be no moment more unifying. where everything we thought, believed or did outside of love itself becomes meaningless in an instant.
so, maybe there is a face. it’s all of ours. and realizing that last part before that unifying moment when were forced to is the point.
maybe this is what they mean when they say “love is the answer”.
it may not save you but it there is no better way to spend a second.
